Born Anxious

Born Anxious is a homegrown clothing label with core objectives, to make our clothing as comfortable as possible, whilst also remaining planet friendly. We use organic fabrics and remove all labels by hand.

Sensory clothing has huge benefits for children and adults with Neurodiversity and helps sensory regulation and provides maximum comfort on the skin with zero irritation. The removal of labels is something very personal to me and to Oscar, as one tiny label can change your day.

We do not mass produce; we make each item to order to reduce waste. We are true to our Grass roots; our message and purpose is for everyone but is aimed at a niche group of individuals and groups who all share our common belief, that kindness is key.

As a parent of an Autistic child with a multiple diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia, eating disorder, absent seizures, complex and challenging behaviours and learning disability, I have thought about the designs and tried to be as Generic as possible. The Originals Collection is designed based on experiences that I shared with my son as we began to navigate the world during our diagnosis and afterwards.

This collection remains core and are all reflective in the early blogs that document how each design came to be. As the collection develops, some are inspired by other’s journeys and it’s amazing to watch and seek feedback of how our designs impact on others.

The aim of the designs is to raise acceptance, awareness and inclusion for Invisible Disabilities and Neurodiversity, complex health, high medical needs and to promote wellbeing and positive mental health.

Born Anxious are Charity Champions for Anna Kennedy Online Charity and Work for Good UK. We also support Mind Charity, The National Autistic Society, Camp I am special USA, and SNAAP via collaborations.
